So when Matt and I started Basic Agency we had this 12 year old kid hanging out at our office all the time...

He was a neat kid - and how could you not like such a motivated little dude? One of our most respected content partners also took a liking to the kid and named him Little James. We would give him lots of small tasks to keep him busy and growing and learning. As our agency grew so with it grew Little James. Instead of doing fake projects, we began sending real work his way. Before long, he was a 15 going on 30, and had already been out of the country doing content shoots for major brands. I watched in wonder as this youngster redefined what a teenager was capable of when engaged and driven by purpose.

Well he’s 22 now and traveling all over as a brand-focused lifestyle videographer, and we’re starting his story all over again.

At 22 James already has the life experience of a man twice his years.  On the 10-year anniversary of this story of early beginnings and inspired pursuits, we’re starting it all over again with the launch of PRXM. This time James comes over to being on the giving end, and on the receiving end it isn’t just one lucky kid. We have a growing army of rad little productive humans, all chomping at the bit and ready to learn, and make, and contribute, and work in the spreading of what we call Contagious Good. Little James had talent, but his strongest talent was in his ambition and drive to do real stuff. To be “real” is in the doing of “real things.” By the time he became a real adult, he was already seasoned in doing real things and his young talent was more than just a little “real.”

Now he and I are partners in recreating his story with the kids in my neighborhood, and we’re creating a brand in the process.

Now that my two youngest are 11 and 13, the timing is a perfect for building upon an already great story. The stage is set and our little neighborhood army is into it. James and I are now partners in something as meaningful as anything we’ve ever done. Not sure where all the kids can take it but the effort already feels worth it. Although PRXM already has the look and feel of something these kids can be proud of, we can’t wait to share what’s still to come.

Prxm Collective is about kids living actively and creatively; Real Kids doing real things in the real world.

We want kids to experience the excitement of real encounters in the real world, being productive, doing actual good, and having a bunch of fun along the way. This is grown-up thinking, but when you think about what kids are capable of, why wait? Kids can develop skills at an astounding rate and the way we see it, the great learning-curve of life does not have an age requirement.

The best way to learn it is to make it. Simply put: Prxm is learning brand by creating one.

It’s a project and the plan for now is to just have fun and let the bigger-picture plan reveal itself as we go. This is frustrating and refreshing at the same time, but as long as we are moving toward a higher than self sense of purpose, we can’t go wrong. While the kids are learning, living actively and being creative, one of my favorite aspects of Prxm is that it competes with video gaming! Those things are hard to beat these days and Prxm is giving these kids something else to be stoked on!

The kids are given the opportunity to apply what they learn, designing and selling products, and eventually running the real company they’re helping create.

The generated income goes back into making more products, but not until after some-thing is given to charities for less fortunate kids. We want this to be something the world knows about because we know that when others see what we’re doing it may trigger patterns of others engaging in what we call Contagious Good!

Meaning behind the mark: The logo represents relational balance and natural sequence: Cause/Effect, Order/Chaos, Light/Dark, Past/Future, Life/Death - any elements of nature that have an inverse relationship. Life is forever in a state of flux, like a swinging pendulum or a flipping hourglass - each extreme cannot exist without its opposite. The logo symbolizes the irony, the balance and the order of those beautiful contradictions, and makes for a great conceptual foundation for generating meaningful expressions of language and design around the brand.
